Designed in Partnership with: Fox Browne Creative
Conceived as a simple, refined annexure to the Main Guest Areas at Phinda Vlei Lodge, the new pavilion expands the existing dining and shaded seating offering, extending the guest experience even further into the natural landscape and better connecting occupants with views of the vlei.
Architecturally, the building has an exceptionally light footprint. The intention was to minimize any impact on the landscape, choosing rather to float over the ground and in doing so, blend a sense of old-world luxury with contemporary pragmatism and provide a continuation of the sensitive architectural approach of this iconic South African lodge.
